When I first realised the seriousness of the issue of how to get rid of man boobs, the sheer scale of the problem startled me. True, I had worked with quite a few guys, in my job as a Fitness Trainer, who had the condition and had assisted a good proportion of these to achieve a more masculine chest. However, my knowledge was, I felt, not quite enough as to the underlying causes.
I quickly found out that there are 2 distinct conditions involved and gained an in-depth understanding of both. Medically speaking, Gynecomastia is the more difficult issue. Like many scientific words, gynecomastia derives from the Greek…’gyne’, and ‘mastos’ meaning ‘woman’ and ‘breast’ respectively. What are the reasons for it being more complicated? Simply due to the fact that there exist lots of potential underlying triggers, each giving rise to an upset in the equilibrium of the normal quantities of the two hormones ‘Androgen’ and ‘Estrogen’. The masculine hormone is Androgen, with the female being Estrogen. In the majority of males this level stays stable for most of their adult life. If the normal level of the 2 hormones becomes unbalanced and too much Estrogen gives rise to Gynecomastia, then the issue of how to get rid of man boobs becomes a priority issue to the individual.
The other and more prevalent problem is known as Pseudogynecomastia with ‘pseudo’ translating as ‘false’ in Greek. What is involved here is an excess of adipose or fatty tissue on the man’s chest area and the individual with this condition is also likely to be carrying fatty tissue on other areas of his torso…i.e. being overweight or obese.
It is therefore pretty clear that anyguy who wants to get rid of man boobs must be sure which of the two conditions he has. Such information must be acquired by going to his physician. As I said earlier, pseudogynecomastia is considerably easier to cure and can be achieved by working with a Fitness Instructor. Therefore all that a man needs is the right application and professional assistance with dietary and lifestyle adjustments along with a workout regime to get rid of man boobs permanently.
Once your physician is certain that your condition is gynecomastia, then he will require you have some more tests so that he can pinpoint the underlying cause. Medical Science has found many causes of gynecomastia and the more frequent are:
- Pubertal gynecomastia due to a young man’s hormones getting out of balance.
- Some prescribed treatments can affect the vital Androgen/Estrogen relationship.
- Too much alcohol consumption is a proven trigger.
- Cannabis abuse will also alter the hormonal ratio.
- Regular anabolic steroid use signals the body to ‘aromatise’ the additional Testosterone into Estrogen.
More causes and additional information are available on my website. After all is said and done, exercise, diet and lifestyle changes are equally as important in gynecomastia as in pseudogynecomastia, as I have discovered in my work in the gym.
It wasn’t until the 1970′s that doctors began to understand how hormones could become unstable and trigger gynecomastia. Before this the two approaches available to any man with gynecomastia were the expensive option of surgery in order to get rid of man boobs or to purchase restrictive undergarments to hide them.
Today we know so much more about both gynecomastia and pseudogynecomastia that there should be no need to resort to either of these methods. I have researched several alternative and non-invasive treatments developed in recent years and highlight just the best on my website the ‘Best Chest Guide’.
There are lots more articles there which will arm you with more knowledge of both problems and assist you in finding out how to get rid of man boobs. Remember, I am a qualified fitness advisor and have helped many clients build the chest they want, using similar methods to those explored on my website.
